A walk in Saltram woods near the stone folly revealed this beautiful scene for me to paint. Just as nature began to kiss the trees with autumnal colours the leaves of the same branch at the bottom of the picture were still holding on to their summer outfit whilst the top leaves were giving in willfully to the changing of the season.
